Serving our clients' international needs

Our sector specialisation in media, entertainment, technology and IP means the vast majority of our work has a cross-border element, and we’re well-versed in serving the global needs of our clients.

As an independent firm, we’re not constrained by local offices or formal networks. We handpick the best specialist counsel worldwide to ensure clients get the right expertise in every market.

We maintain close relationships internationally, with senior lawyers regularly travelling to meet clients and partners worldwide.

Examples of our international experience include advising:

A US digital music business on multiple UK acquisitions A US client on its investment into a UK-headquartered video games company A French film financier on a slate of UK and European film projects A streaming service on music licensing across Europe, the Middle East and Africa
A US investor on its investment into a UK digital marketing business Leading content businesses on UK and EU film and TV projects Major brands on their global trade mark portfolios On the sale of a UK football club to an international consortium
A publicly listed Swedish video games company on multiple development and publishing projects Multiple businesses on high-value sponsorship agreements involving multiple jurisdictions Leading betting and gaming companies on specialist advice across more than 80 territories A US-based technology business on the application of UK regulatory regimes to its product offerings.
Case Study – Advising on the acquisition of a European games company

We advised on the acquisition of a mobile games company with operations in Poland, the Czech Republic and Belarus. We:

  • Led on all aspects of the M&A transaction including coordination of local counsel, employment and other advice in the target jurisdictions.
  • Identified and implemented solutions to IP deficiencies relating to the key titles across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Took a leading role on the game migration arrangements post-closing.
  • The migration work involved Wiggin’s games team working alongside the technical teams from both the client and target to agree the migration plan. The team then worked closely with our corporate games team to reflect the agreed terms in the purchase agreement.

The success of this complex transaction reinforced why clients value our unique combination of sector specialisation and cross-border corporate capability.
